Aching after the snowboarding

We celebrated my birthday (last November - how time flies when…) at Tamworth in the Snowdome, with a day learning to snowboard. Whenever we visited Laurie and Sylvia and went there we thought it looked great fun, and so we finally managed it.

And was it hard - YES! We were both physically wrecked after the first 1 1/2 hours in the morning, dripping with perspiration and bruised and tired. But, we were getting there, Ally rather better than me as expected. She could go backwards or forwards down the slope, and was attempting turns by the end of the day. I was was pretty good going backwards, but only just getting there going forwards. It was a bit scary - and of course we both fell over often and sometimes slightly too hard. But we didn’t break any bones and now we just have to get over the fact that some muscles are complaining bitterly.

We also stayed overnight. We had a great plan to get the car serviced and the MOT done, all in the day we were there. Unfortunately it failed the MOT, and needed some parts that would only arrive the next day. So, we had a romantic stay in the Premier Inn in Tamworth - memories of when we stayed visiting sometimes. All all worked out fine though, and we slept very soundly after the exertions of the day. Then back home and time to organise ourselves for Michael’s visit. We hear that they all had a good time in Spain staying at Sylvia’s grandfather’s villa - sounds good to me. Ally is off in the morning on the plane to Palma and I am having a day in London, trying out guitars and seeing Katie and Ben for lunch.
